Things to check before setting off
Once you’ve checked the weather and that your bike is in good working order, check your tyre pressure a final time, plus the brakes, and remember to grab a helmet. Make sure you’ve got the circuit factsheet plus a first aid kit, a bottle of water and some fruit in your backpack. Also very important: take a repair kit with you that has what you need to repair a puncture, a spoke key spanner and spokes cut to the right length, a rear gearshift cable, a rear brake cable, an inner tube, chain breaker, small screwdriver, a set of flat keys and Allen keys. It might seem boring but it’s so useful and helpful if you need to do a repair!

A bike ride in a typically Vaucluse setting
How do you get there?
You can park in boulevard Jean Giono in Sarrians or use the Trans’CoVe public transport network which stops in the village.
Crossing Sarrians, Courthézon, Vacqueyras, Beaumes-de-Venise, Aubignan, this 35km loop (No. 21) is perfect for getting back into nature and doing some exercise.
It’s intermediary level, and has an elevation gain of 247 metres and shows you the agricultural wealth of the Comtat Venaissin. You’ll ride along what’s growing in the vineyards, orchards and other market gardening plots one after the other and will even cross the canal at Carpentras. All between the Dentelles de Montmirail and the Ventoux.
It’s an experience that will recharge your batteries!
Discover the wonderful views of the Ventoux and the Dentelles on this loop
From Sarrians Tourist Office, go up towards boulevard Albin Durand then go left on avenue Jean Giono, and left again after the post office. Then you just have to follow the green and white bike no. 21 signposting.
The first kilometre will give you the opportunity to warm up your legs on relatively flat ground.
You leave Sarrians where you stop for a moment to see the animals at the educational farm at the Domaine de l’Oiselet.
Then the elevation starts, and keeps going until Vacqueyras. The bonus of this ride is that you find yourself surrounded by typical landscapes of the AOC Ventoux and Côtes du Rhône, AOC “Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise” and AOC Vacqueyras vineyards. It’s a real wine tourism festival!
In Vacqueyras, we’re welcomed by the ramparts, castle, porch and narrow streets of the old village. At Beaumes-de-Venise, stop at Notre Dame d’Aubune chapel, which is very pretty with small columns and a square bell tower.
