All aboard at Pays de Sorgues
This itinerary makes for a nice, fresh, 27 km bike ride!
It’s the ideal route for a family day out discovering the treasures of the Pays de la Sorgue. In the village of Le Thor, you’ll have the choice between visiting Château de Thouzon or stocking up on fresh produce at the market (Wednesday and Saturday mornings) before getting on your bikes.
En route, you’ll cycle through cherry orchards, which make up typical scenery of the region! Why not stop for a picnic and soak up the peace and quiet of the iconic river? Next, it will be time for you to discover the beautiful village of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, with its canals, art and antiques!
Foodie destination
Take a well-deserved break at Mas de Cure Bourse. This hotel-restaurant welcomes its guests in a shady and sophisticated setting… And the bonus? There is a massage treatment area which is perfect for relaxing tired muscles overworked by the bike.
Follow the Sorgue on your bike
You’ll begin this itinerary in the picturesque streets of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue where waterwheels and canals play a major role in the village’s identity. You won’t have cycled far and you’ll have come across the Antiques Village – a paradise for those who love to find second-hand goods. Amateurs certainly don’t mess around and sometimes come from all over Europe in search of a rare pearl.
Get back on your bike and head in the direction of Saumane de Vaucluse, well-known for being the home of the castle belonging to the famous Marquis de Sade. Before the end of this loop back in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, see the chasm in Fontaine de Vaucluse where the source of the Sorgue can be found.
