80 years of the Liberation: Avignon celebrates!

On August 25, 1944, the City of the Popes regained its freedom after two years of occupation. To celebrate this 80th anniversary, the town invites you to (re)experience the jubilation of this memorable day with a program of festive and unifying events.

80 years on, you'll be immersed in a fraternal festive atmosphere.

The town invites you to relive the jubilation of August 25, 1944. Military vehicles (jeeps, tanks) and civilian vehicles (tractions, rosalies) will be on parade, along with some 150 extras in period costume, to celebrate the taste of freedom regained!

PROGRAM :
- Saturday August 24, 9:30 pm, Place de l'Horloge: Grand bal populaire.

- Sunday August 25:
* 9:30 am, Place de l'Horloge: exhibition of vintage civilian and military vehicles.

* 10:30 am, Monument aux morts du Rocher des Doms: commemorative ceremony for the Liberation of Avignon.

* 11am, place de l'Horloge: parade of civilian and military vehicles through the city.

* 12pm, Place de l'Horloge, Place Pie and Place des Carmes: exhibition of vintage civilian and military vehicles.

* 1pm-3pm: parade by retro trio Les Mademoiselles.

* 3.30pm, back at Place de l'Horloge: parades of civilian and military vehicles in and out of the city.
