Event at Avignon :
The Orchestre National Avignon-Provence, conducted by Débora Waldman and accompanied by cellist Victor-Julien Laferrière, performs at FabricA.
The concert is preceded, from 6 to 8 pm, by a festive gathering with a brewer, foodtruck and competition.
Amid the wooded paths of Riga's prestigious Forest Cemetery, fir trees stand watch over the grave of Lūcija Garūta. The greatest Latvian composer of the last century had a gift for writing
meditative pieces, as exemplified by her wordless melody Teika (1926). With cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière, the Orchestra will then take us to Czechoslovakia through the dancing rhythms and virtuosity of Antonín
Dvořák's Cello Concerto, a final masterpiece before our European tour ends with the heroic Rhenish Symphony (1850), described by Robert Schumann as the great "episode of a life on the banks of the Rhine".
